Wolf Trap by Connor Sullivan

Wolf Trap just might be the best political thriller of the year. It will remind you of an early Tom Clancy novel. It's that good!

Brian Rhome is a former operative with Ground Branch, an elite CIA force. Driving a snowcat and grooming ski trails in Montana, Brian is trying to forget the disastrous operation in Pakistan where he led his men into an ambush and walked away as the only survivor. He is lured back by a promise of enough cash to save his home and more importantly, the chance to get revenge on the man who masterminded his friends' deaths.

President Angela Buchanan is nearing a sweeping milestone as she is about to sign an international climate change agreement when disaster strikes. Her efforts to salvage the situation are undermined by a conspiracy that reaches across the globe, including the highest levels of her own government.

Rhome finds himself drawn into the center of this conspiracy as he races to unveil the plotters, save the president, and prevent a global conflict.

This story is full throttle from the first page to the last. Great characters, intricate plotting, and thrilling action will have you flipping pages long into the morning hours. The scheduled signing of the international accord gives the book a ticking clock element as both sides race to either save the accords or plunge the world into war. Rhome is both a tortured soul and a highly-skilled, vengeance-driven warrior. Connor Sullivan juggles a large cast including characters inside the American intelligence agencies as well as foreign dignitaries, operatives, and terrorists. He spools out multiple threads and then ties them all together with high-stakes action. His clever plotting and structure will keep you in the dark until the very end.

If you ever wondered what it would be like to read a book like The Hunt For Red October again for the first time, this is your chance. Wolf Trap is one of the best books of the year and I cannot wait for more of Brian Rhome and Ground Branch!

I was provided a copy of this book by the publisher.
